Privacy Policy

Last updated: 1 September 2026 · AssetForge

This Privacy Policy explains what information AssetForge ("we", "us", "our") collects through this website and the AssetForge software, and how it is used. AssetForge is independently owned and operated.

1. The short version

AssetForge is built to be local-first. The asset records, checks, photos and reports your business creates inside the AssetForge software are stored on your own computer, not on our servers. We do not have access to that data, and we do not collect it. This policy mainly concerns the limited information involved in running this website and processing a subscription.

2. Information collected through this website

This website does not use third-party advertising trackers. The information we may receive includes:

  • Standard technical logs collected by our hosting provider (e.g. IP address, browser type, pages requested) for security and reliability purposes
  • Anything you voluntarily send us — for example, by emailing admin@assetforge.com.au or using a contact link on this site
  • Fonts on this site are loaded from Google Fonts' servers, which may receive your IP address as part of that request. See Google's Privacy Policy for details

3. Payment information

Subscription payments are processed by our payment provider, Polar, at checkout. We do not receive or store your full card details — Polar handles payment processing and is subject to its own privacy policy and PCI-compliant security standards. We receive confirmation of your purchase and the licence details needed to issue your key.

4. Information inside the AssetForge software

The AssetForge desktop application stores your asset records, checklists, photos, fault reports and backups on the Windows computer it is installed on, at your premises. This data is not transmitted to us, and we do not have a copy of it. Staff access it over your local network, or — if you switch on Remote Access — through an encrypted Cloudflare link to your own computer. Your records stay on your computer either way. If you need support, we may ask you to describe or share relevant details voluntarily, but we do not have standing access to your installation or your data.

5. Licence and account information

To issue and manage your subscription and licence key, we keep records such as your email address, purchase history, and licence activation status. This is used to provide support, manage billing, and enforce the activation limits described in our Terms & Conditions.

6. Cookies

This website does not currently use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. If that changes, this policy will be updated accordingly.

7. Sharing information

We do not sell personal information. We share limited information with service providers strictly as needed to run the business — for example, our payment processor (Polar) for billing, and our installer host (GitHub Releases) for software downloads. We may disclose information if required to by law.

8. Data retention

We retain account and billing information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described above, including to meet legal and accounting obligations. Data stored inside your own AssetForge installation is retained entirely under your control, on your own hardware.

9. Your rights

You can ask us what information we hold about your account, request corrections, or request deletion of information we control (such as your billing contact details), by emailing admin@assetforge.com.au. Because your operational data lives on your own hardware, deleting or exporting it is entirely within your control at any time.

10. Children's privacy

This website and software are intended for business use and are not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time, for example as the product or its infrastructure changes. The "last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent version.

12. Contact

Questions about this policy or your information can be sent to admin@assetforge.com.au.

This policy is written to be a clear, honest description of our actual practices as a small independent software business, not a substitute for professional legal advice. If your business has specific compliance requirements (e.g. under the Australian Privacy Act or industry-specific regulation), please seek independent legal advice about whether this policy meets them.
